Sozioökonomische und politische Transformationen, Klimawandel und Anpassung, Infrastruktur und gebaute Umwelt, Identität, Indigenität und kulturelles Erbe, Energiewenden und Nachhaltigkeit, Interdisziplinarität und knowledge co-production.

Forschungsinteresse

Diese Forschungsgruppe untersucht ein Bündel sozioökonomischer, (geo-)politischer und ökologischer Transformationen in den Arktisregionen, die durch den Klimawandel, den Ausbau von Infrastruktur, Ressourcengewinnung und Militarisierung sowie durch vielfältige lokale Anpassungen daran geprägt sind. Ein weiteres zentrales Themenfeld befasst sich mit den Verflechtungen der Bewohner:innen des Nordens mit ihren natürlichen und gebauten Umwelten – darunter Subsistenzlandschaften, städtische Grünräume und Infrastrukturen. Der dritte Schwerpunkt liegt auf den Zusammenhängen zwischen indigener und lokal verankerter Identität, Natur, (bio-)kulturellem Erbe und Kunst. Schließlich bündelt das Interesse der Gruppenmitglieder an Energiewenden Diskussionen über soziale und ökologische Sicherheit, kritische Infrastrukturen und Klimagerechtigkeit. Die Forschung zu diesen Themen wird von den Prinzipien der Interdisziplinarität, der Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Gemeinschaften sowie der kooperativen Wissensproduktion mit arktischen Communities und Bewohner:innen geleitet.
