Short Biography MMag. phil. Master of Arts Lydia Weber

Lydia Weber is a graduate student in Arctic and Northern Studies at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her research interests include Arctic geopolitics, resource development, critical minerals, political economy, and questions of sovereignty and self-determination in the Circumpolar North.

Her current research focuses on the geopolitics
of mineral resource development in Greenland, examining the role of external actors and the relationship between resource development, geoeconomic competition, and Greenlandic autonomy. She is also interested in the Indigenous peoples and languages in the Arctic.

Alongside her academic work, she works in international education in China, where she currently serves in a departmental leadership role in Visual and Performing Arts.
